Hi, User:Saqib! Thank you for helping reverting the hooligan Boeing 737's vandalism. However as I returned the content to your user and talk pages and tagget VAVAVAVVA etc. for deletion, you reverted my edits. Why? ϒpsilon (talk) 10:02, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Ypsilon:. This is not the way to deal with page move vandalism. Redirects should not be created. @Ikan Kekek: I don't understand why you blocked Saqib. I can confirm that it isn't hijacked. An admin needs to delete all the nonsense pages created by the vandal. --Glaisher (talk) 10:06, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have unblocked the account. Like Glaisher I don't see evidence it is hijacked. On the contrary Saqib has been doing tremendous work fixing the vandalism. Nurg (talk) 10:14, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Saqib. I thought I had posted an explanation and apology for why I blocked your account for 20 minutes. It sure looked to me like your account was hijacked, because the histories of vandal articles looked like you had started them. Oh, I just realized: The explanation was in the User talk:Saqib that I deleted in order to restore this version, which had been moved to User talk:VAVAVAVA but had the history. Anyway, this is no stain at all on your record, but I highly recommend you change your password, in case I really am not wrong that your account was hijacked. And now, I'll go back to deleting more fake articles, if that's still needed. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:21, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
And if I misunderstood what I was seeing in the histories of vandalism articles, I apologize. In any case, no ill will toward you whatsoever was intended. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:26, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) IK, I'm sure my account was not hijacked. All of edits I made today are done by me. I want you to check my today's contributions closely. You'll notice that I moved back the vandalised pages but over redirects and later I tagged those nonsense redirects for speedy deletion. The reason why I reverted YPSI edits on my user page because I wanted to move back User:VAVAVAVAVA to User:Saqib because otherwise the history of my user page was losing. --Saqib (talk) 10:28, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
The thing that I don't understand is that your username appeared first on many of the vandalism pages I deleted, and it said things like "++++++++ moved to [name of policy page] over redirect". If you didn't create the page, why did the rest of the history before your action disappear? All that was there, often, was that action by you and then Ypsi's "speedy" notice. Can you understand why I was confused? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:32, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
OK, this was just explained to me on my user talk page. I'm very sorry; you were not only an innocent bystander, but doing your best to help. I hope you can accept my apology, as I was acting in good faith and not to hurt you. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:36, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Ikan Kekek: Sorry for the delay. It would be easy to prevent page moves by newbies. There are two options; an abusefilter or changing the criteria for autoconfirmed status as only confirmed users can move pages. Currently, users are automatically confirmed after 4 days of account creation. An edit is not needed. If criteria for autoconfirmed is changed, then not only would this affect moving, but other permissions as well, such as editing semi-protected pages. See Special:ListGroupRights. On the other hand if an abusefilter is used, we can use it to prevent page moves by newbies, without affecting other permissions such as editing semi-protected pages. Of course, if an abusefilter is used more tweaks can be done. This should be discussed by the local community. Regards, --Glaisher (talk) 15:24, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
This has been happening on a regular basis on other larger wikis; given that many vandals only hit English wikis, it was bound to happen sooner or later. --Rschen775420:15, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Saqib! Athens' article is in pretty bad shape as I signposted in its talk page. I'm volunteering to help with city districtification. Unfortunately I experienced some troubles downloading a map from openstreet.org. Can you do it next days? Let me know, please. --Gobbler (talk) 02:06, 30 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Pardon me. I didn't get what you said. You want to insert a OSM in the article or you want me to draw a Wikivoyage-styled district map? --Saqib (talk) 12:48, 30 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I once tried to draw a map based on current district-ification but couldn't able to as the current district-ification is way to complex but based on your proposed district-ification on the article's talk page, I can give it another try but I think first you've to make sure we're going to use your proposed district-ification. --Saqib (talk) 21:27, 30 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have updated the districtification of Athens, a Wikivoyage-styled district map can be drawn now, however, I don't know how to do it. --Handrian (talk) 02:50, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Saqib, thank you for your kind words. You might have seen that i work a bit on Munich. The only district missing a map is Munich/South-West. It is wide, so an OSM map for the Get around section would be great. If you have time it would be great. The map would need to include the big train station in Pasing (last backbone station) and the commuter hub Solln in the south. I played a bit with OSM but didn't got a satisfying map. Hope you travel a lot and best regards, jan (talk) 14:41, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Saqib. Do you happen to have any friends in Oman who might be able to upload good new photos of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat to Commons? Most of the photos of the mosque seem to have been deleted from Commons, which is very unfortunate for several reasons, including its bad effects on the Muscat guide and its Dotm nomination.
Also, let me take this opportunity to thank you again for all the magnificent work you do.
In the end, I was still awake long enough to use a couple of images. I still hope for a better image of the Svarovski crystal in the dome, which Commons used to have an outstandingly clear and impressive photo for. If you happen to come across a usable one without someone's name on the photo, please upload that, too. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:34, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh, that's a shame. So it looks like we need someone to upload photos of this mosque (and eventually, other buildings in Oman) locally. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:45, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Saqib, I think your behavior has been exemplary ever since you were promoted back to regular member. I would support a return of your admin tools with a nomination if you would like them back. Just let me know. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:50, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
You're on the Administrator rolls again, Saqib. That is a sign of the faith and trust you have earned from the community. Congratulations. Powers(talk)14:35, 28 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Saqib, as you know, i edit WV for about two weeks after the retirement last year because i got some feedback that the crosswiki Travemünde cooperation was not as easy as i hoped for. I took the time to read the stuff about your "free will" admin removal. I guess with the move to the WMF, implictly the rules of the foundation were part of the package. I'm not comfortable with some of the new rules incl. the enforcement and therefore will refrain from participating in policy discussions to not start emotions/discussions again. Personally i would prefer to abstain in your nomination because i believe many things went wrong in the whole process. You do good work and have my respect. I hope you understand my reasons. Regards, jan (talk) 15:21, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Saqib, i think participation is important and imho you have not been judged on a level playing field for your actions. I respect past decisions by the community but wanted to let you know the reasons because silence leaves room for interpretation. jan (talk) 16:19, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Saqiq, I would ask you if on your spare time you could create the 6 regional maps for the 6 territories that compose the article in the subject. I've explicitely link the Italian version because in my opinion there's a big mess in the English version (I would comment it later). The details of each single map can be taken from the the map present also in en:voy, while territory division can be taken from the second map present on it:voy. Considering that Burma it's a "long" nation, I would cut each map focusing on the specific region. Please let me know, --Andyrom75 (talk) 07:28, 14 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Saqib. On Talk:Manhattan/Chinatown, there's been agreement that the boundaries of the map for Manhattan's Chinatown should be extended further east from Pike Street and the East River to Allen St. and Delancey St. (specifically, I would say that both sides of Pike and Allen should be included, but only the southern side of Delancey, and I'd also say that NoLiTa, which is included in the article, should start just west of Bowery, with both sides of the Bowery between Delancey and Houston St. included in the Lower East Side). If you'd like to extend the static map, that could be tricky because a number of places now in the Manhattan/Lower East Side article should be inserted. The other tricky thing is that the map for the Lower East Side would have to be edited to exclude the area that's being moved from there to the Chinatown map. Perhaps it would be easy to just move that area from one map to the other? Otherwise, since User:PerryPlanet understandably isn't feeling motivated to edit static maps anymore, new dynamic maps would need to be created for the Chinatown article and the Lower East Side article. Would you like to create them?
Thanks a lot, Saqib! However, that doesn't look right, as there's a bunch of empty (non-white) space between Chinatown and the Lower East Side that shouldn't be there. I may try to edit the image later today, but if it's too difficult, it may have to wait for a while. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:26, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
This map is just for my reference so I can know about where is the new suggested boundary. The finished map will be free of glitches. --Saqib (talk) 15:35, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
If the boundaries are the solid orange lines, no, that would make Chinatown way too big. I'll try to make an edit after I'm finished with all my final grading and anything else that's urgent. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:28, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Saqib. I finally got the chance to try my hand at this map with Photoshop. File:Manhattan mockup map edited.pngMap showing the boundaries I propose for Manhattan's Chinatown on Wikivoyage. Everything to the west and south of the black line is in Chinatown; the rest, south of Houston St., is in the Lower East Side. Does this make sense to you? There should never be any space between Chinatown and the Lower East Side, which border and blend into each other. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:26, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi IK, I've made the changes to both of the maps. Please have a look and let me know if you want me further improve them. --Saqib (talk) 08:11, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot! There is one more thing: The words "LOWER EAST SIDE" should be removed from the Chinatown map, as there is no longer room for them in the area we are now allotting to the Lower East Side article. And if you want to, at some future point, you could add some new listings to the Lower East Side map and move some listings from the Lower East Side map to the Chinatown map, but I don't think any of that is urgent. I'll move some of the listings themselves around. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:11, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Label "LOWER EAST SIDE" has been removed. I've moved a few listings from Lower East Side map to Chinatown map and then I compared the listings on the maps with the listings in articles and I found that except a one or two listings, everything else is already in place. --Saqib (talk) 09:23, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much! Eventually, there will be more listings. For example, there's a Quality Inn on Ludlow St. on the Lower East Side (I think; I have to check), and I hope some people will add listings of some of the more popular bars that I avoid, due to loud music, overcrowding, and expensive drinks. I guess I should add Pianos, though. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:58, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Walekum-as-salam saquib i have read your message. I wanted to tell you that if we merge the page with the Kolkata, won't it look bad. Because i wanted to give complete info on the station and merging won't make it look good. Do u have any other option? —The preceding comment was added by Shaane Khan (talk • contribs)
Khan, it won't look bad if you merge only the useful part of information. You don't need to merge all the stuff into Kolkata article. Wikivoyage is not encyclopaedia and we only need information that is relevant and useful for a traveller. For instance, we don't need to write detailed history about the railway station. Why don't you take a look at "By train" section of Karachi article. And please when you make comments on talk pages, make sure to sign them by using four tildes "~". Hi Saqib, Thank you for your interest in the Mid Canterbury page, I was creating. While I was creating it - it appears you deleted it for copyright issues. However I hold the permission/copyright to that content. Can you please undelete the page I was working on? Also, under regions of the page "Canterbury" it mentions "Mid and South Canterbury" as one listing - this is incorrect, as each have their own distinct attributes which should be represented. Is there a way to more accurately reflect this? Thanks for your help in advance. Looking forward to creating a complete and accurate picture of Mid Canterbury. But "Experience Mid Canterbury" website — from where you took most of the text — clearly mention that stuff on the website is copyrighted. --Saqib (talk) 21:57, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Remember this one?
Hi, map master!
Half a year ago you made a map of Sweden's regions. Me and PrinceGloria decided to change the regions again. I was about to modify the map, but then I noticed you've only uploaded the png. If you happen to have the svg version on your hard drive could you please make the following changes:
Gotland, the large island in the middle of the Baltic Sea halfway to Latvia will split off Southeast Sweden and be a separate region organized directly under Sweden.
The rest of Southeast Sweden should be merged with Western Sweden. The name of this region would be Götaland, just like before.
You gave me a good chuckle YPSI. I still remember my school teacher was used to call me "computer master" even actually when I wasn't and now you calling me "map master" although actually I'm not. Btw, strange I didn't uploaded the source file of Sweden map. Anyway. I've uploaded both the source file as well have modified the map as per you suggested. Please have a look and let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you. --Saqib (talk) 15:14, 16 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to do with Taxila#See something like what I did at Suzhou#See, list the sites which are included in the (linked) UNESCO listing, then other sites separately. It works for Suzhou with only 9 gardens on the UNESCO list; I'm not certain it would for Taxila with 18 sites. What do you think? Pashley (talk) 18:24, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi Pashley, thanks for working on Taxila article. I truly appreciate and I think your suggestion is something I should definitely follow but I'll need to learn about each and every site. I've started to gather information about Taxila so hopefully we'll be able list each and every site as a separate listing. As for Suzhou map, I'm sorry but this is an external issue and I'm not into OSM. Feel free to let me know if you may need my assistance with any static map and I'll be happy to help you with that. Thanks! --Saqib (talk) 18:42, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Saqib. It's good that you put these templates at the beginning of some articles, but some of the language isn't true in all cases. For example, Saba is not yet a successful nominee. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:42, 1 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Right. At first, I was a bit hesitant to add the template to Saba article when I read on the table "pending fixes and stronger consensus to support" but due to nominations' inclusion in to the table, I added the template. I see no harm in this as if later, the nomination removed from the table due to lack of strong support, definitely the template would be removed too. --Saqib (talk) 05:39, 1 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Understood. I just wonder if another template should be developed that says "This article is currently under consideration for x, y or z feature," etc. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:52, 1 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) I'm not either. Perhaps the text in the current template needs to be modified? Like "and is now a successful featured article candidate." for example.
Articles are nominated when they are put on the nomination page. If they do not get support votes it's because something in the article has to be fixed (if it has already been DotM or someone has nominated an outline etc. it should be slushed directly). On the other hand, there is almost certainly something to fix even in articles that gets support votes from everyone. ϒpsilon (talk) 07:01, 1 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi YPSI, I don't think there is a need to change the text in the template. In my opinion, once a nomination is up there in table, its considered a successful featured article. I think we shouldn't move nominations in the table if something is need to be fixed in the article. --Saqib (talk) 13:18, 1 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Several articles -- at least Kim and Taxila, likely others -- mention this road, and it has considerable historical importance. w:Grand Trunk Road has a fair bit of info & a map.
Grand Trunk Rd or GT Rd, as it is known locally, is certainly one of the historical and important route in the region but I'm not convinced why it should have an article. If compare to Silk Rd, GT Rd doesn't have much significance in my opinion and on the other hand, GT Rd is just remains a major road connecting major cities along the route but it doesn't enjoy the attention of a tourist such is the case of Karakoram Highway. --Saqib (talk) 22:39, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Saqiq, how are you?:-)
I'm writing you to ask a couple of favour.
Very quick. To change the color of Crimea on Ukraine article from yellow to gray, because today is a part of a foreign country (Russia).
More work. To convert the out-of-standard map on Southern Russia into a wikivoyage standard map. Possibly keeping the same colors, to vaoid to change the regionmap template. Once done (if done), could you substitute the map in any language version?
Thanks a lot Saqib. I've spread your Southern Russia map on all the language version. One minor thing on the Ukraine map: the letter "e" of the word "Ukraine" exit from the square box. Could you fix it?
I take the chance to ask you another favour. I've noticed a mistake on the color of the map in Southern Thailand. Currently the color of Phuket island include by mistake also the Ko Yao. While in the Phuket article Ko Yao is listed in the "Go next" section and in the Northern Andaman Coast article is listed in "Other destination". To better visualize what I mean, see the map on the Wikipedia Italian article. Basically, the two big islands plus the minor islands on the east side of Puket should have the same color of the Northern Andaman Coast. ....I hope it's clear enough:-P --Andyrom75 (talk) 08:56, 11 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

I need a courtesy if possible. Could you create a new map for Ireland starting from the one that you find in en:voy but using the border that you see on it:voy and the motorway update that you can find in the link mentioned over here? It would be really great.
The new map would be used immediately in it:voy and fr:voy, while en:voy should wait that someone will work over all the current articles. Thanks, --Andyrom75 (talk) 22:58, 22 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Sure. I can help with this but I cannot figure out what changes you want me to make. Come to IRC when you're free (preferably night) and let me know so we can discuss it. --Saqib (talk) 09:13, 23 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Andy. The MAP and its source file has been uploaded. Please try to restart the discussion here on Ireland talk page and get the new region list implemented. If the new region list makes sense for other versions of Wikivoyage, obviously it should work here, too. --Saqib (talk) 10:15, 28 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Saqib. Can I ask why you thought it was necessary to oversight this edit? It's certainly rude, but it's not vulgar nor did it contain personally identifying information. Powers(talk)01:09, 23 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Saqib - you deleted a number of templates that are in use throughout the site earlier today. Based on the delete logs I'm guessing you may have imported something and then deleted what was imported, but please be very, very careful when doing so since it looks like you imported about 38 modules, overwriting some existing templates, and then deleted all of them, including the ones that were in use such as Template:Documentation and Template:Tl. We all make occasional mistakes - I've broken CSS, templates and JS at various times - but I did want to recommend that in the future you should probably import pages one at a time, rather than importing a template and all of its dependencies at once. -- Ryan• (talk) •23:46, 7 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ryan: Thank you for looking it this and restoring the deleted template(s). I was testing something and had no idea it will bring too much clutter over here. Anyways, will definatetely be careful in future. Applogoes for inconvinicen it may caused to you. --Saqib (talk) 08:55, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've recently tagged User:Saqib/MainPage for deletion. Now, I wouldn't write this if it wouldn't be the freaking fifth or sixth time someone other than you creates that page and fills it with some random Russian spam. As they've persisted in doing this so many times, I'm sure they will do it again in a week or two if the page is just deleted. Should this page not be protected? ϒpsilon (talk) 05:55, 10 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
I deleted the spam and protected it for administrators only - hopefully that's OK. Pages that are repeated targets of spambots can be useful as they allow us to easily identify and block IPs or accounts used for spamming, but if the repeated spamming is bothersome then it is easy to protect the page against future edits. -- Ryan• (talk) •06:10, 10 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Whilst parts of the article are in the tradition of an April 1st item, the intent I had in some of the sections, is to inspire the genuine traveller or scholar. (The section on India for example was written by a Wikisource contributor familiar with that region.).
The era and region are not one I am that familiar with, and so a contribution from someone that knows the region better than I do would be appreciated. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:21, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I saw that you deleted a short entry I made under Kiparissi Lakonias (Peloponnese - Greece). Being a total newcomer to the field, I am working slowly, thus the entry appears unimportant, but in fact, it is one of the most beautiful on the peninsula. I shall put in the info as a whole, once I have finished with it. —The preceding comment was added by Nature lover (talk • contribs)
I've restored Kyparissi Lakonias as I'm not sure it qualifies for speedy deletion - it wasn't created as page creation vandalism and appears to be a real place, so if it doesn't merit an article it should either be redirected or nominated at WV:Votes for deletion. My preference would be to allow the creator time to work on it and see how it develops before taking any action. -- Ryan• (talk) •16:53, 18 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Nature lover: Please accept my aplogies for being so hasty. Ryan, your message well noted. Actually I Google to find about the place but found nothing of it. It seemed to me a small village with no defining features that would attract a tourist which according to this page doesn't merit an article. But you're right I should had redirected it instead of speedy deletig. My mistake. I will be careful next time. --Saqib (talk) 17:05, 18 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
