Trapani Wine Region

[edit]

Many thanks for the recent additions. A couple of points to note ...

Please recheck the telephone numbers in the above article. You have listed two different establishments at far apart addresses with the same telephone number ending 456. As it is unlikely they share a telephone number, I assume one may be a cut and paste error.

Latitude and longitude details need a maximum of five digits after the decimal point. Please trim and round the recently added entries, the current number of digits tracks the location to the nearest atom. -- 92.21.137.132 20:25, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for spotting that. I've fixed the duplication. But I'll check all of them again tomorrow when I shorten the latitudes and longitudes. Kned Wiki (talk) 22:02, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
There's another duplicate phone number in the listings, but I already figured they are probably related businesses within the same building. Additionally, one of the numbers somewhere in the listings is tripping an error flag in Category:Listing with phone format issue but I can't spot why. -- 92.21.137.132 22:17, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hello - Thanks. I've checked all the addresses and telephone numbers. I've also added email addresses and shortened the latitude and longitude. Where you noticed the duplicated number, the one is for the accommodation at the wine resort and the other for the restaurant. I think I've given them individual numbers now so hopefully that should be removed. Also, I notice that the Erice page in Italian is a little odd: https://it.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Erice# It looks a bit like someone was trying to create a Wikipedia page. Would it be okay for me to edit that one too? I speak and write in Italian, but not quite as comfortably as in English. Kned Wiki (talk) 10:20, 29 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Of course it would be OK! Wikivoyage in any language is the travel guide everyone can edit! I'm sure regulars there would be delighted for someone to improve one of their articles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:26, 29 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Listings in "Other destinations"

[edit]

Hello, and thanks for your excellent work on articles for parks and reserves in Italy.

One note regarding listings: listings for parks and reserves within region articles, such as Trapani (province), belong in the section "Other destinations". Specific points of interest can be mentioned in later sections such as See or Do, but these later sections of a region article should contain an overview of the entire region, and should be written in prose. For more information, please see Wikivoyage:Region article template.

I'll go ahead and make the appropriate changes to the province article for Trapani. To be clear, it's not your fault the article was already formatted incorrectly just want to give you a heads up as you continue editing and writing new articles. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 17:45, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Great — thank you! I'll take a look and follow your lead. I just wanted to run something past you:
There's currently a page on Selinunte, which seems to be named as if it's a town or village. As far as I can tell, though, it's really an archaeological park. It's part of the comune of Castelvetrano, which (according to Wikipedia) has a population of over 31,000 and is actually the fourth largest comune in Trapani province. Yet Castelvetrano doesn't have a Wikivoyage page, while Selinunte — an outlying archaeological site — does.
Do you think it would make sense to rename the page to something like Archaeological Park of Selinunte and treat it the same way as the nature reserves (e.g. with a map of the main attractions etc.)?
The official name of the park, in Italian, is: Il Parco Archeologico di Selinunte (The Archeological Park of Selinunte). Here's the official site for the park reference: parchiarcheologici.regione.sicilia.it
Let me know what you think! Kned Wiki (talk) 18:24, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hello! Great question. On Wikivoyage, we title articles by their most common name, and don't default to the official name. My question would be what is the most common term used to refer to the site, the full name Selinunte Archaeological Park/Archaeological Park of Selinunte or just Selinunte? We should change the title only if the full name is more common.
There has, in fact, been discussion quite recently regarding how archaeological parks should be categorized: as parks, or cities, or some other categorization entirely. If I remember correctly, that discussion didn't decide on a hard and fast rule, and I've seen archaeological sites categorized as cities or parks. In this case, it seems to make more sense to designate it as a park given its status as an archaeological park and the lack of a city named Selinunte nearby. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 21:07, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
