Hi, I'm justfred, and I've come here after several years of editing Wikipedia (where I'm also justfred).

I've made the following notes for my own use while discovering Wikivoyage. Feel free to comment/respond to them but don't feel obligated as they're just my scratchings.--(WT-en) Justfred

-Travel hints. On some of the Mexico pages, for example, there's information about driving in Mexico. Why copy this again and again - should there be a "driving in Mexico" page? Probably.

There is, in travel tips; but these are a little hard to find and link to pages. I'll keep working on these.--(WT-en) Justfred 13:01, 26 September 2006 (EDT)

-Individual locations. Should (for example) museums or other "attractions" have their own page? I think so. But the wiki is still growing so this should evolve.

See Project:What is an article? and the extensive discussions on the talk page for the reasoning behind not giving museums and other attractions their own articles. When there is a LOT to say about a place we do give it its own article - see Angkor Wat or Disneyland for examples, although they are fairly rare exceptions. -- (WT-en) Ryan 21:08, 25 September 2006 (EDT)

Makes sense to me, tho I'll check the discussions. I'd think places like the Louvre, the Met, etc. would merit pages, the point would be understanding where the line is drawn.--(WT-en) Justfred

...and as the Wiki grows, more and more places would need descriptions; for example, the airports as discussed, when they get large enough to overwhelm the page they are moved to a new page; same would be true for attractions (whether or not one can sleep there!)--(WT-en) Justfred 13:01, 26 September 2006 (EDT)

-GPS. Seems as if locations should ALL have GPS links. This would enable mapping, nearby locations, links to Google Maps, etc. But it also seems like "whose job is this?".

Plunge forward. You can add geocoding using the directions at Project:Geocoding. Also: how have you gotten through several years of Wikipedia editing without learning how to sign your posts? --(WT-en) Evan 22:27, 25 September 2006 (EDT)

Will check out that page. I'm sure most of these questions are answered somewhere, I haven't started really looking. And as far as the sig, usually I just click the handy symbol that isn't here (yes, I can be extraordinarily lazy about stuff like this. Sometimes I edit without logging on, even). Okay, I added a couple of Geo tags. Not much use for them at the moment. I can imagine an automated program going back to add them later. Have also been reading the talk discussions.

-Treo Browser Support. Wikivoyage doesn't work on my Treo's Blazer web browser. (Neither does Wikipedia.) (Unless I print to PDF, but I mean "live".) Most likely a problem with the Treo's browser, tho it handles most other pages fine. I don't have to edit or see pictures (tho both should theoretically be possible), but seeing text would be really useful. Maybe mobile.wikivoyage.com ? There are third-party viewers for Wikipedia, but I don't believe they work with Wikivoyage. The CSS fix for 'pedia discussed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Browser_notes#PDA_.26_cell_phone_browsers doesn't seem to work.--(WT-en) Justfred 13:01, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
