[edit | edit source]- 1 Chilarair Kot, Andaranfulbari. The ruins of an old fort built by Sukladwaja or Chilarai (1510–1571) of the Koch dynasty. He is said to have lived in a wood or bamboo built complex in the fort well protected by high walls, although there's no such trace of the structures built of wood or bamboo. The earthen surrounding walls were strengthened at the base with lime and brickbats. Chilarai had once hidden the Assamese Vaishnavism preacher Sankaradeva in his fort to protect him from the wrath of his elder brother, Nara Narayan. Chilarai was possibly influenced by the sage and later converted to Vaishnavism. Although Vishnu was the family deity of the Koch dynasty, they followed Shaktism and were worshippers of goddess Kamteswari.
- 2 Chilarair Bara Kot, Kamat_Phulbari. A larger brick-built fort with an earthen surrounding wall having lime and brickbat base, built around the same time as the smaller one. It was protected by the Kharkharia and Chakchakia rivers on three sides.
