This template is used to generate the banners used on the Main Page.

Usage

Parameters

  • type — The feature category that the banner promotes. Valid inputs are "dotm", "otbp" and "ftt". The heading and icon are automatically updated based on this setting.
  • direction — Which side of the image the text box should be aligned to.
  • title — The name of the featured article.
  • alt-title (optional) — The shortened name of the featured article. It is encouraged to shorten certain phrases to keep the box from overflowing, for example: "National Park" to "NP", "International" to "Int.".
  • width (optional) — The width of the shadowbox, set to 45% by default. Should not exceed 60%. For the sake of a consistent appearance, only change this value if truly necessary.
  • image — The banner image without the "File:" prefix.
  • quote — The blurb of one to two sentences of text featured below the page title.
