Scope

[edit]

I realise this article is very barebones as it stands, but I notice this article says that the lede says this covers "kids and children's with up 1 to 17 age". Isn't that just way too broad? First of all, in what world would someone under the age of 12 travel on their own. Secondly, even for those between 12 and 17, aren't the differences just way too wide? When I was a 17-year-old I used to frequently make 400+ km trips either solo or with friends (once even did a 750-km roadtrip with a friend), things that I would have not done if I were younger. I feel like the things that you could do radically differ by location, age brackets without being Captain Obvious to realistically cover in 1 article (and something that actually makes sense, not the incomprehensible material currently present). //shb (t | c | m) 11:57, 16 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

It's not unusual for even very young children to take a plane by themselves, being assisted by airline staff and picked up by a family member on the other end, but that's specific to the flight itself, not traveling otherwise. Ikan Kekek (talk) 14:05, 16 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
My problem with this article, as it stands, is that it contains nothing but a series of "Travelling by" sentences. I don't so far get the feeling that it really is an article at all. Ikan Kekek (talk) 14:07, 16 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the article is a valid travel topic but as of now there is really no useful information here. Also, even as the article is short, there are some weird parts: why is there a Learn and Work section, and why is there info about rental cars? Even in the countries where people under 18 can get a driver's license, I believe rental companies are not renting cars to people that young.
If there's not enough information for a standalone article, travel alone as a minor can be added to Travelling alone and then later split off as a separate article when needed. --Ypsilon (talk) 15:14, 16 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
This article is, at best, a shell that has been created f future work. It isn't anything like a travel article. I propose that we move this to the creator's draft space until it has been developed into an actual article. Ground Zero (talk) 19:52, 16 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Good idea. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:32, 16 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Most rental car companies don't permit under 21s (some under 25) for insurance reasons, so I don't think that's even something for this article either. I would support either merging it with travelling alone (as per your proposal) or moving it in the creator's userspace (as per GZ's proposal). //shb (t | c | m) 22:09, 16 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I have moved the article to user space. There was no content to merge into another . Ground Zero (talk) 07:16, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
