Pembina



Pembina is a city in the Red River Valley of North Dakota. It borders Emerson, Manitoba in Canada.

Until 1823 the governments of both Canada and the United States assumed that Pembina was in Canadian territory; the survey of the 49th parallel that year revealed it to be in the United States. It is a major port of entry for traffic coming from Winnipeg into the United States.

Permanent exhibits covering the local indigenous peoples, the fur trade, frontier military forts, the U.S./Canadian border survey, and modern agriculture. Also features an observation deck with a 360 degree view of the Red River Valley. Museum admission free, observation tower $2 adults, $0.50 children 13-18, free for children 12 and under.
