Northeastern Utah



Northeastern Utah is a region which includes the counties of Dagget, Duchesne, Carbon, Emery, Uintah, and the eastern half of Summit county (east of longitude 111W).

  • 7 Vernal — the region's second largest town, located in the far northeast of the state, and near Dinosaur National Monument and Ashley National Forest

Here you will also find the world's highest altitude long-distance hiking trail, completely above 11,000 ft, through the Ashley and Wasatch-Cache National Forests.
  • 7 Uinta National Forest Uinta National Forest on Wikipedia — a bit further off the beaten path for more wilderness backpacking for the adventurous, mountain biking trails, some unusual geological features, and backcountry skiing
