Maardu



Maardu is a town in North Estonia, 15 km east of Tallinn.

This industrial town is known for the 1 Port of Muuga, the largest cargo port in Estonia, which is partly located in Maardu.

  • 3 Jägala Falls (Jägala juga) (20 km east of Tallinn, 15-30 min car drive; get off the Tallinn-Narva highway at the Kaberneeme junction, drive towards Kaberneeme, and after a few hundred metres there's signage to the falls). This is Estonia's largest waterfall. It is better to go early in the morning to catch the soft dawn light or in the evening when the sun shines on the falls. During cold winters, Jägala Falls freezes in a spectacular fashion and is well worth seeing. It can be seen from above and below (by walking down a few sets of wooden stairs).
