Komlóska (Rusyn: Комловшка) is a village in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County in northeastern Hungary, close to the border with Slovakia, 70 km (43 mi) from Miskolc.

[edit | edit source]The name Komlóska was first mentioned in historical documents in 1396 as Komlós and later in 1397 as Komlóstelek.
Rusyn settlers from modern-day Slovakia arrived in the village in the 1720s. To this day, the village has preserved its unique Rusyn traditions and Greek Catholic faith.

[edit | edit source]There are direct trains from Budapest to the village of Vámosújfalu, from where you can take a bus to Komlóska. The name of the train station in Vámosújfalu is Olaszliszka-Tolcsva. The entire trip from Budapest takes about 3 and a half hours and costs around 5500 Ft.

By bus
[edit | edit source]Bus routes 3891 and 3884 run every 1–2 hours from the Vámosújfalu Train Station to Komlóska. The earliest departure is at 4:50 AM, and the latest is at 5:35 PM. The journey takes about 20 minutes and costs 450 Ft. There are two bus stops in Komlóska: Komlóska, Erdészház at the Sólyomvár-Lak hotel and Komlóska, Községi kút in the center of the village, in front of the Municipal Office.

It was built in 1820 by the local Rusyn Greek Catholics to replace a wooden church that had previously stood on this site.
