[edit | edit source]60 km from the capital Santo Domingo and 30 km from the International Airport of "Las Americas" (SDQ) on the south coast of the Dominican Republic, Juan Dolio and the new part of Juan Dolio, named "Villas del Mar" are the biggest touristic centers on the south coast.
The area is experiencing an enormous building boom and is being converted from an all inclusive hotel area to a luxury apartment resort with Caribbean beaches, yacht harbors, golf courses, and all one would expect of a tropical island resort community.

[edit | edit source]The center of town and beachfront area are walkable with well-maintained sidewalks. For farther distances, a motoconcho (motorcycle taxi) can be hired.

[edit | edit source]The beaches are beautiful and protected by coral reefs. The main ones from west to east are: Playa Juan Dolio, Playa Hemingway, and Playa Marbella.

[edit | edit source]Many of the resorts contain bars, while others are found around the beach area on Calle Principal near Playa Juan Dolio.
