Garun Mallam
Garun Mallam (also spelled Garum Mallam) is a town and Local Government Area (LGA) in Kano State, northwestern Nigeria. Its headquarters lie on the A2 highway, approximately 45 km south of Kano city. Covering about 214 km², it had a population of 116,494 in the 2006 census. The area is predominantly Hausa and Fulani, with Islam as the main religion. Garun Mallam is an agricultural and market centre—known for wheat, tomato, rice production, textile weaving, wood carving, and houses the Kano Seed Processing Center in Kadawa.

The population is mainly Hausa and Fulani, speaking Hausa and Fulfulde. Islam dominates local religious life. Agriculture is the economic mainstay—cultivating wheat, rice, and tomatoes—while textile weaving, dyeing, hunting, and wood carving add to livelihoods.
