South Australia is particularly known for its churches, in particular, Adelaide which is colloquially called The city of churches. Although a minority of Australia identify as Christian (43.9% in 2021), many non-Christians choose to visit the many churches and cathedrals in Adelaide for their architecture.

Dedicated to Saint Elijah, this 1993 built church was built by Serbian Australians who settled in Coober Pedy as opal miners. Due to the extremely hot climate in Coober Pedy, they ended up building a church under the ground making a popular tourist attraction for anyone coming into Coober Pedy because of its underground location.
