Cabugao is a coastal town in Ilocos Sur.

[edit | edit source]Cabugao was founded by the Spanish in 1781 and was named after a local chieftain. Its chief mainstays are agriculture, tourism and the Salomague port, a major maritime transportation hub in Ilocos Sur.
Get in
[edit | edit source]Cabugao is along Route 2 (Manila North Road). Buses also ply this highway, with some bus companies operating limited direct services from Metro Manila.
- 1 Salomague Port, Salomague Port Road, Salomague. A maritime transport hub on Salomague Harbor that has been redeveloped and expanded to enable cruise ships to dock as part of efforts to attract foreign tourists to the Ilocos Region.

[edit | edit source]- 1 Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish Church (Cabugao Church), Manila North Road, Rizal. Cabugao's main Roman Catholic church, built during the Spanish era in a Baroque style.
- 2 Pug-os Beach, Pug-os. A white-sand cove that is also used as a production center for sea salt.
- 3 Poro Island (Salomague Island) (rent a boat at Sabang Pier). A secluded, uninhabited island with white sand beaches.
- 4 Sabang Coral Baywalk, Sabang. A seaside promenade facing Poro Island.
- 5 Rebba Falls, Cacadiran. A set of rapids at the point where the Cabugao River exits the Cordillera Mountains into the coastal plain.
