Bad Windsheim is a town of 12,000 people (2020) in Middle Franconia. The town is known for its waters and spa, Franken-Therme, and an open-air museum.

In the Holy Roman Empire, Windsheim held the rank of Imperial City (until 1802). In 1961, it became a spa town and has since been called "Bad Windsheim".

Burnt out during the great fire on December 3, 1730, it was rebuilt by July 1732 by the Windsheim city master builder Johann Niklaus Krauß.
