[edit | edit source]
Będzin Castle
Mieroszewski Palace

Będzin was a royal town of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and an important point on the historical borderlands between Lesser Poland and Silesia. The historic core is concentrated around Castle Hill, the old town, Holy Trinity Church, the remains of the medieval town walls and the Czarna Przemsza river.

The town has several distinct visitor areas:

  • Old Town and Castle Hill – the castle, town walls, Holy Trinity Church, old streets and the Będzin Underground.
  • Jewish heritage – Cukerman Prayer House, Mizrachi Prayer House, memorial sites and traces of the former Jewish quarter.
  • Gzichów – Mieroszewski Palace and its park.
  • Grodziec – St Dorothy's Hill, St Dorothy's Church, former industry, the old cement works and workers' heritage.
  • Syberka and the arena area – a newer part of town with a park, Będzin Arena and events.

Allow at least half a day for the castle, Castle Hill, the Underground, Mieroszewski Palace and selected Jewish heritage sites. Add Grodziec, St Dorothy's Hill and industrial sites if you want a full-day itinerary.
