Abraka

Abraka is a town in Delta State. It is popularly known as the University town.

Abraka was named Avwraka before it was changed to Abraka. It is one of the 22 towns that make up Urhobo kingdom.

This town is regarded as one of the most popular vacation spots in Delta State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Ovwuvwe Festival. An annual festival celebrated for protection.
For seven days before the festival, young men go hunting, carry their animals and dance around on the day of Ovwuvwe Festival. Blessing is received from the females at Abraka Inland with the chewing of native white chalk (orhe). (updated Feb 2024)

It doesn't cost much to enjoy crab or shrimp here in Abraka because of the abundance of seafood in this town.
