    Shortcuts

    Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in two cases. The first case is restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. In the second use case, this page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be "userfied", i.e., restored as a draft or emailed to you; this way, the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). Be clear as to which namespace is intended, when requesting the restoration of a deleted article.

    This means that content deleted after discussion – through deletion processes – may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process but through deletion review instead. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided.

    Do not request that pages or media deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

    Request to Restore Article: Chinese boot camps

    I would like to respectfully request the restoration of the article Chinese boot camps. While I understand there may have been concerns about tone, sourcing, or structure, I believe deletion may have been premature.

    This topic is genuinely notable and has been widely reported on by reliable international and Chinese media sources. Many investigative reports and academic analyses have covered these so-called “special training schools” (特训学校), particularly in the context of internet addiction treatment, behavioral correction, and human rights controversies.

    I completely agree that Wikipedia articles must meet strict standards, and I am open to improving the article to better align with Wikipedia’s guidelines on neutrality, verifiability, and tone. However, I respectfully suggest that editing and improvement would be more appropriate than deletion, given the documented real-world significance of this subject.

    Thank you for the response and for preserving some of the content under Internet addiction camp.
    However, I still believe that "Chinese boot camps" warrant a standalone article, rather than being a section within a broader international topic. Here's why:
    1. Uniquely Notable in Scope and Severity: Chinese “boot camps” (特训学校) are not only far more numerous than those in other countries but are also notoriously documented for systemic abuse, deaths, and human rights violations. These institutions often operate in legal grey zones and have been the subject of repeated investigative reporting and public outcry both inside and outside China.
    2. Substantial Coverage by Reliable Sources: The depth and quantity of media, academic, and NGO reports focusing specifically on China make it appropriate for its own entry — similar to how North Korean prison camps are treated separately from general prison articles. Sources such as The New York Times, The Guardian, South China Morning Post, and Caixin have all provided extensive coverage.
    3. Different from Other Countries' Models: While "internet addiction camps" exist in countries like South Korea, those are often regulated or therapeutic in nature. In contrast, Chinese boot camps frequently operate with military-like discipline, forced confinement, and sometimes violence, which marks a stark departure from similar institutions elsewhere.
    4. Searchability and Reader Interest: Many readers specifically search for information on “Chinese boot camps” due to viral news, documentaries, or personal interest. A standalone article improves accessibility and focus.
    In short, while the Internet addiction camp article is a good umbrella topic, the Chinese variant deserves its own entry due to its scale, controversy, and international attention. I’m also happy to help improve and maintain a well-sourced and neutral version if restored.

    I still genuinely hope the original article can be restored — I believe the topic is notable and important enough to warrant a standalone page. That said, if restoration isn't possible at this point, I'm open to rewriting it as a new draft. However, Draft:Chinese boot camps is currently extended confirmed protected, so I can’t create or edit it myself. Could the protection be adjusted to allow me to work on it, or could someone create a blank draft page so I can begin?
    Also, just to clarify — I’m not using an LLM to generate these posts. I’ve been writing them myself and trying to express my points clearly while following Wikipedia’s tone and expectations. If anything sounded too polished, that wasn’t the intention — I’m just trying to be thoughtful and respectful in making the case for this topic.

    I just want to make it clear that I'm not Free258, and I’ve never had any connection to that user. This is my only account, and I’m here in good faith trying to contribute to a topic that I think really matters.
    I get that there’s concern about sockpuppets, but in this case, that doesn’t apply. I’m genuinely just someone who wants to help write an article properly, with good sources and neutral tone.

    There was nothing controversial in the deleted article, so given the passage of time and seeing new articles for this guy in Google Scholar since the AFD, I'm restoring on good faith. However, given that this is a WP:BLP, the original was largely created by the article subject, and there are potential WP:NOTWEBHOST issues, I've moved it to Draft:Sudhaker Upadhyay instead of userspace so it will be deleted via WP:G13 if it isn't actively worked on for 6 months.
