English: Panoramic view of the front entrance bas relief of Sterling Memorial Library, Yale University, New Haven, CT. The relief was designed by Lee Lawrie and carved by René Chambellan. From left to right, the scene depicts Cro-Magnon, Egyptian, Babylonian, Hebrew, Arabic, Greek, Chinese, and Mayan writing, drawing text from significant manuscripts in each language. The central figure is a medieval scholar, and the figures over the archways are an Egyptian eagle, Phoenician ship, Babylonian lamassu at left, and Mayan serpent, Athenian owl, and the Roman capitoline wolf at right.

NOTE: This image is a panorama of the entrance relief of Sterling Memorial Library consisting of 3 frames that were merged or stitched in Adobe Photoshop. As a result, this image necessarily underwent some form of digital manipulation. These manipulations may include blending, blurring, cloning, and colour and perspective adjustments. As a result of these adjustments, the image content may be slightly different from reality at the points where multiple images were combined. This manipulation is often required due to lens, perspective, and parallax distortions.
