History & Timeline
[edit]The park began operating in 24th of October 1992 (soft-opened)[1] and was officially opened by former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, on 29 April 1993.[2]
The three parks that opened between 1993- 1995:

- 1995: Fort Lagoon Wild West
The park introduced the 'Triple Loop' rollercoaster in 1997. Two years later, the ride was relocated to Flamingo Land.
In 2003, several rides were renamed. This includes the Runaway Train, renamed to Lost City of Gold, and Sky Flyer, renamed Tomahawk.
Two new attractions have been added to Waters of Africa. These include Voodoo Adventure River on 20th August 2005 and Kalahari Kids in mid-January 2005.
On January 2 2006, the Galleon (pirate ship ride) from Wonderland Sydney was renamed Pirate Revenge. This upgraded ride rotates 360 degrees into the sky.
Sunway Lagoon also introduced the Annual Pass (then was Xtra Fun Card), which allows guests to enjoy free entry to the park for the next 365 days starting the next day from the purchase date.
Scholar Rocks (indoors) has also been added to the park. It's located near the Flying Carpet ride.
On January 3, Morphis Simulator opened at Scholar Rocks.
In 2006, the Surf Beach (formerly Jeffery's Bay) underwent refurbishment and is open sometime in July. According to its old website (Wayback Machine):
'it's said that the old tiled landscape of the surf pool has been transformed into 6000 tons of sand, palm trees and huts in the area, creating a tropical beach oasis in the middle of the city.'
In 2007, the park saw two additional sections opened.
This includes Extreme Park in early 2007 and Wildlife Interactive Zoo in late 2007.
The Extreme Park opened in 2007 with 8 attractions. 9 new attractions were added to the existing 5 later.
The Wildlife Interactive Zoo (opened in late 2007) houses more than 90 species.[3]
