Vännäs



Vännäs municipality, Vännäs kommun, is in Västerbotten in northern Sweden, with around 9,000 inhabitants, half of them in Vännäs itself.

Understand[edit]

In 1891, the northern main railway got a station 4 kilometres from the village of Vännäs, and a new settlement known as Vännäs grew around the station. To avoid confusion, the old village was renamed Spöland and now Vännäsby. In 1896, a rail connection to Umeå was made.

The train from Umeå or Lycksele, or from either by the Blue Highway, E12.

Road 92 leads in from Dorotea in the west, on E45, via Åsele on road 90, Fredrika and Bjurholm.
