Weird block

[edit]

I have just been blocked for no valid reason that I can ascertain.

The message that came up was:

"You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason:

Your user name or IP address has been blocked.

The block was made by Wrh2. The reason given is per Wikivoyage:User_ban_nominations/Archive#User:118.93nzp and associated IP addresses (third block).

   Start of block: 20:28, 4 May 2014 Expiry of block: 20:28, 4 August 2014 Intended blockee: 213.160.119.242

You can contact Wrh2 or another administrator to discuss the block. You cannot use the "email this user" feature unless a valid email address is specified in your account preferences and you have not been blocked from using it. Your current IP address is 213.160.119.242, and the block ID is #6568. Please include all above details in any queries you make."

I have tried to edit User_talk:Wrh2 but it seems I am blocked from editing that page and neither can I edit my account preferences to create an e-mail address so how exactly am I supposed to appeal this block? --213.160.119.242 20:48, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

You can post an appeal on this page. Nurg (talk) 03:06, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, Nurg.
I was worried that nobody would ever see this page.
Perhaps there is a case for making the block notice more explanatory and helpful for those IP addresses that may get unwittingly caught up in collateral damage as I have been?
Are you aware that this IP address in the UK is completely unconnected with the antipodean IP addresses used by the New Zealand police officer that was given 3 blocks? --213.160.119.242 11:34, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I find it quite sad that WRH2 claims to be able to detect who is writing messages even though it is obvious from the IP addresses that W. Frank is not (and never can be) User:118.93nzp. Why can there not be a check user and physical inspection of passports, etc to put an end to this censorship and oppression? We'll degenerate to the levels of Internet Brands soon. --212.219.249.5 11:35, 15 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
