Hello, 184.89.8.165! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.
By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations.
I made an edit overwriting your changes to the U.S._Virgin_Islands article. The Wikivoyage style is less encyclopedic than what you added. The information you added about the hurricanes would probably be better in the Understand section of the article if it was condensed more, along with a brief history of the islands.
Edit: I want to make it clear you didn't do anything wrong. It's difficult to transition from writing on Wikipedia to writing here due to the tone change. You had a good contribution. DethDestroyerOfWords (talk) 22:16, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
I see that you updated the info for this article. The warning box is "broken" however and it's far too much information. It shouldn't be the entire history of the event, along with how the residents feel about it or how the government failed them. I suggest you move the more detailed information under the Understand section, perhaps under a heading such as "History". I don't want to revert your edits, but there can't be a broken warning box at the top of an article. DethDestroyerOfWords (talk) 22:49, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
Unhelpful edits to United States of America
[edit]I see you're a new editor with a very passionate interest in Puerto Rico. That's wonderful! We welcome you here, and would love to have you contribute lots of local knowledge to improve our travel guide for Puerto Rico.
However, the edits you're making to United States of America are not helpful, and cannot stay. You need to read and understand some of Wikivoyage's policies if you're going to contribute here. The main ones that apply in this case are The traveller comes first and Be fair. We shouldn't tell readers that Puerto Rico is a state when it isn't, or pretend that it's on the same footing as the 50 states when it isn't.
I should also warn you about not starting an edit war. If you try to put this information back in repeatedly when others disagree, that could lead to more stern warnings or even getting banned. Starting an edit war also isn't a good way to get people to like you or agree with you, which is important in a peer-oriented community like Wikivoyage.
Also, I can tell you're a new Wikivoyage editor because of how you're implementing your changes. We don't want to discourage anyone from contributing useful information, but it would make things much easier for everyone if you learn how to format things properly. When you're editing, next to the blue "Publish changes" button there's a "Show preview" button so you can see what the result will look like before saving the changes. If it doesn't look right, you can try various changes again and again until you're satisfied. That's much easier for everyone than cluttering up a page's history with dozens of typos or mistakes or failed attempts to format something.
Welcome to Wikivoyage. I hope I haven't scared you off, but I wanted to give you a bit of guidance and feedback before you go overboard.
