The town's architecture is quite distinct from most towns in the greater Montreal area. Some buildings date back to the beginning of the 1900s, while the new buildings have tried to copy some of the older building's features.

Most people who come to Hudson take a drive down Main Road to see the old houses, foliage and lakeviews. This is popular in the summer but perhaps best done in October, when the leaves turn fall colours.

Main infrastructures: cycle path, hiking trail, children's playground (with water jets), training circuits around the lake, white calcite monument (for the world day for the eradication of extreme poverty), pavilion of reception, free parking, an arched bridge, a bridge overlooked by the 150th century terrace, an area to set up infrastructures during events (e.g. Quebec Day, winter carnival), etc. The pedestrian and bicycle paths around the lake stretch for 8.0 km to the Raymond-Lévesque library. Main activities: lake mountain slide, hill slide (Kimber Boulevard), cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, leisure activities in the pavilion's multidisciplinary room, etc. The path "La Montée du chemin de Chambly" of the Route Verte (bike path) is adjacent (south side) to the city park. A herd of about sixty geese lives from April to October in this park. Catholics might light a candle at this outdoor, hundred-year-old shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes built into the mountain, which operates only in the summer. Non-Catholics might enjoy the "potato fields", a strange natural clearing of thousands of small boulders in an otherwise wooded area close to the shrine. The local legend of its origin are that a potato crop was turned to stone beause the farmer worked on Sundays. Then, it was used for commuter trains on the Montreal/Dorion-Rigaud line in 1898 and 2010. The first station existed from 1891 to 1940; the current building was built in 1940. This station was very popular with pilgrims visiting the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes sanctuary or students attending Bourget college. This building, now owned by the city of Rigaud, has been designated a "heritage railway station" since 1994. The summit stands 366 m (1,201 ft) above sea level. The mountain is mostly covered with sugar maple-dominated forest. Apple orchards and vineyards are cultivated on many of the lower slopes, and much of the fruit is used to make cider. During summer weekends, living history demonstrations focus on fort life in the mid-19th century. Admission to the site includes the ferry ride to the island. The Chambly Canal is a 19-km waterway along the west bank of the Richelieu River. This canal connects Lake Champlain (USA) to the Chambly Basin. Its construction began in 1831; it was opened in 1843. It is a National Historic Site of Canada. The free height is 8.84 m. The canal has one lock near the downtown core of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. This lighthouse was strategically erected to complete the Contreceour-Verchères range lights. This line of navigation lights includes a front light (tower raised 14 m (44 feet) above the summer water level of the river) and a rear light at the village of Verchères (tower 20 m) which is visible up to 25 km (15 m) away.
