Morocco Backpackers begun as a secret dream in a cafe in Place D’Jeema el Fna by a man who grew up in the excitement and trickery of this square that captivates tourists from all over the world.

Place D’Jeema el Fna, in the centre of Marrakech, was his school and playground for many years. One day he found a disused house a couple of minutes away where he could put all his experience of working in riads to create a backpackers hostel so bright and happy that he no longer had time to dream in cafes...

And now, 3 years later, there are 6 hostels...

all different in character, atmosphere and design ...and so it began Morocco Backpackers...a dream in a cafe...

When the privilege of travel is not yours and your passport does not give you the right to freedom of movement around the world, it is even more important to understand the mentality and principles of travel and the qualities that travellers bring to your country in the hope that one day you too will be able to give back these qualities to other countries.

Morocco Rooftops urges travellers to appreciate and cherish their freedom of movement, to revel and embrace Morocco - its seemingly bizarre systems, colours and completely organised chaos - the enjoy the unfamiliar, to be good humoured about its challenges. Expand your mind and be as free as the ticket that allows you to enter different countries. We are one world, and until this is realised as scientific fact rather than bohemian concept we will never truly understand each other.

Mix it up, get off the beaten track (geographically and spiritually), and stop making one dimensional comparisons between 'us' and 'them' because 'we' are all here NOW. And how marvellous is that?
