Tarim (China)

Although Aksai Chin and the Trans-Karakoram Tract are claimed by India, they are under the effective control of the Chinese government. As visitors wishing to visit have to obtain Chinese visas, permits and so on, we treat it as a part of China here.
This does not represent a political endorsement of the claims made by either side of the dispute.

Tarim is in Xinjiang in China, south of Tian Mountain running through the middle of Xinjiang Province. The disputed Aksai Chin, and Trans-Karakoram Tract part of the wider disputed Kashmir region, lie partly in Khotan Prefecture.
