I renamed this page, as I believe "Brittany" is the most common English term for this region. --(WT-en) Evan 01:12, 23 Mar 2004 (EST)

It is. I put that Saint Malo photo on a dummy Saint Malo Page. Where does Mont St Michel go?
  • Image:Montmichel (Mont St.Michel) Feel free to move photo there ;) --(WT-en) Nils 02:34, 23 Mar 2004 (EST)

Please see Project:External links for more on why some external links we removed from the guide. We'd rather have all the info travelers need here in the guides instead of links for more information elsewhere on the web (which aren't to helpful on a printed out page!). Places

[edit]

I added wiki links for the destinations mentioned in this section: See some magnificent examples at the bay of Morlaix and the gulf of Morbihan. Museums at Vannes and Carnac... but we don't seem to have articles for any of them... are they destinations in their own right or are there other places they are associated with? Regions

[edit]

In this article, Brittany is split up into subregions in different ways in different parts of the article:

  • Upper Brittany and Lower Brittany in the Regions section (although its map shows five regions) and the cities section, based on the language spoken (Breton or Gallo)
  • Four departments in the departments section, and a bit under Other destinations
  • An islands section under Other destinations

The language that travellers face will be French principally, because that is the common language of commerce and government in Brittany, and the language that travellers are most likely to be able to start to learn.

There are 43 cities and other destinations listed on the map, and 32 articles. At some point, we should subdivide this article. I propose that we prepare for this by standardizing our subregions on the four departments. The issue of traditional languages can be addressed in Understand, but departments are what travellers are most likely to encounter. Ground Zero (talk) 17:26, 15 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

The dialects of Breton map is too deep into the weeds for a travel guide, and should be removed, I think. Ground Zero (talk) 10:52, 16 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have begun creating the department articles, and will develop them further over the coming days. Ground Zero (talk) 20:30, 7 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
