Status March 2024

I inadvertently exposed a contributor's personal insecurities on the Byron Bay talk page, resulting in disgusting and unwarranted personal abuse being directed towards me. see - Byron Bay talk page.

I took some time away and discovered that there are far more important things in my life to prioritize than deal with low quality people like that. They claimed I did not respect them, and frankly that is now true- I cannot respect anyone who lies and acts completely in bad faith just because they felt threatened by someone who was editing better than them.

I found that more time I took the less desire I have to return. I hope Wikivoyage community can deal with individuals such as this and make it a safe space for all going forward.

I am seriously shocked that someone could obsess about me so much that they literally dedicated hours screaming at their computer (I didn't read what they said) trying to ban me. This individual is very unpleasant and unhinged in real life. This is now a safety issue.

I appreciate everyone's support in the ban thread, however as mentioned above I only have limited time and cannot deal with this. I WILL NOT speak to this person ever again and I hope the community take further steps to deal with them.

I edited my previous status on request of other Admins. Please note that I never named the individual above, and it is only their behavior outside of this page that would identify them.

Given the number of hours and days my harasser is spending on me and complete refusal to listen to group guidance to leave me alone, I would like to make it clear that I am legitimately scared of their behavior and this is about personal safety.
