The city is characterized by a continental climate in the north and a temperate climate in the south with a large annual temperature difference, and especially in winter, the northwest seasonal wind is blowing, indicating severe low temperatures compared to latitude.

The average annual temperature is around 12°C, the average temperature in January is -2.4°C, and the average temperature in August is 25.4°C, with an annual temperature difference of more than 38°C. The temperatures of Choi Han-wol and Choi Nan-wol are very different, forming tropical temperatures in summer and cold air temperatures in winter.
Most of the Dongducheon area is composed of mountains, and Wangbangsan Mountain and Haeryongsan Mountain are surrounded by Guksabong Peak to the east, and Chilbongsan Mountain rises from Hoeamryeong of Cheonbosan Mountain to the northwest, forming Namgye by spreading high and frequent peaks in various branches. To the west, Machasan Mountain is surrounded, extends north, and Oknyeobong Peak forms the northern boundary.

These mountains are mountains where the Gwangju Mountain Range splits near Cheolryeong in the Taebaek Mountain Range and reaches near Seoul, and most of the rugged mountains in the Dongducheon area belong to this.

In the northeast, high mountains with heights of more than 400 to 500 meters form a fairly rough mountain area, and Soyosan Mountain, the pride of our city, rises at the west foot of Guksabong Peak, boasting its beautiful appearance. In addition, to the south, it is a fault that passes through Yangju-si and Uijeongbu-bu, and this fault is flat due to severe erosion than the surrounding area, so it is used as a major transportation route (National Route 3, Gyeongwon Line).

Located in the center of the Korean Peninsula, our city is characterized by a continental climate in the north and a temperate climate in the south with a large annual temperature difference, and especially in winter, the northwest seasonal wind is blowing, indicating severe low temperatures compared to latitude.

The average annual temperature is around 12.0°C, the average temperature in January is -2.4°C, and the average temperature in August is 25.4°C, with an annual temperature difference of more than 38°C. The temperatures of Choi Han-wol and Choi Nan-wol are very different, forming tropical temperatures in summer and cold air temperatures in winter.

This is because summer is high temperatures under the control of the high-temperature and humid North Pacific air mass, and winter is low temperatures due to the invasion of the cold and dry Siberian air mass. The precipitation is 1,028.1mm, the average annual relative humidity is 69.0%, and the sunshine time is 2,563.3 hours.

Dongducheon is a city of 95,000 people (2019) in Gyeonggi province, South Korea.

Understand

The city, to the north of Seoul, is strategically important for the defense of the Korean capital. The main camps of the United States Second Infantry Division are in the city, and the division command is at Uijeongbu.

It is bordered by Pocheon-si to the northeast, Yangju-si to the west and south, and Yeoncheon-gun to the northwest. It is a satellite city within 40 km of the metropolitan area and belongs to a military protection zone, and is a base village that has developed rapidly since the Korean War. It consists of eight dongs, and the city hall is located at 438 Saengyeon-dong.

Dongducheon-si is an area where you can climb a mountain at any point because the entire city is surrounded by mountain ridges. The representative Soyosan Mountain is good for hiking because the hiking trails are well maintained. As forests occupy most of them, you can find many valleys everywhere, and Tapdong Valley is considered one of the most beautiful vacation spots in all four seasons.
