Map of Moià

The first written record of the name of the town, which comes from Modeliano, a derivative of the Latin anthroponym Motilius or Modilius,[ dates back to the years 912 and 914. The parish church, from the year 939, preserves the act of consecration, with which it is known that a small population center existed in the time of Guifré el Pilós. The fair and the market were granted in the year 1151 by Count Ramon Berenguer I.
