Summary

Description
English: This is outside Fort Assiniboine's Museum. The 24' wagon wheel and pickaxe " celebrates the fact that Fort Assiniboine is the second oldest fort in Alberta. The fort was originally constructed as a Hudson Bay post in the early 1800s. Situated along the overland route from Edmonton to the Klondike Gold Rush, which took place through the years 1897 to 1902, the fort also supplied gold rush stampeders with goods necessary to make the long trek to the Klondike.
