Summary

Description

Tel un nid d’aigle, le château de Predjama a été construit dans une cavité au XIIe siècle à 120 mètres au-dessus d’un gouffre karstique.

Il a été rendu célèbre par un certain Érasme de Predjama, chevalier-brigand qui prit partie contre l’empereur autrichien Frédéric III.

Poursuivi par les troupes impériales, Érasme se réfugia dans son château et résista pendant un an, profitant des multiples grottes attenantes pour se ravitailler.

Il fut finalement tué en 1484 suite à une trahison.

Le château de Predjama fait corps avec la montagne et s’étend largement dans la grotte sur laquelle est adossée la forteresse.
