DescriptionPrince Khaemwaset holding a feather in Tomb QV44.jpg
This is a set of beautifully painted and carved reliefs of prince Khaemwaset the son of his father king Ramesses III of the 20th dynasty. Like many of his brothers, prince Khaemwaset was named after a son of king Ramesses II, Khaemwaset, and like the 19th dynasty Khaemwaset, he was a priest of Ptah in Memphis Prince Khemwaset is depicted holding a light feather presumably to show his suitability to enter into the afterlife. The 20th dynasty Prince Khaenwaset’s well preserved tomb, QV44 (in the Valley of the Queens) was excavated by Italian archaeologists in 1903-1904.[1] A canopic jar of his is now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo; his sarcophagus and probable mummy is in the Museo Egizio in Turin, Italy.[2] He outlived his father and was buried under the reign of his brother king Ramesses IV since the text on the sarcophagus mentions Ramesses IV.[3]
