English: The Marksburg (seen from the western riverside of the Rhine) is a fortress above the town of Braubach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located on a schist rock in a heigth of 160 m. It is the only medieval castle of the Middle Rhine that has never been destroyed. Since 2002, the castle is one of the principal sites of the UNESCO World Heritage Rhine Gorge.
Deutsch: Die Marksburg (hier von der linken Rheinseite gesehen) ist eine Höhenburg oberhalb der Stadt Braubach am Rhein. Sie steht auf einem Schieferkegel in 160 Meter Höhe und ist die einzige nie zerstörte mittelalterliche Höhenburg am Mittelrhein. Seit 2002 ist die Marksburg Teil des UNESCO-Welterbes Oberes Mittelrheintal.
Français : Le "Marksburg" (vu de la rive gauche du Rhin) est un château surplombant la ville de Braubach en Rhénanie-Palatinat (Allemagne), d'une hauteur de 160 m. Il est situé sur la rive droite du Rhin, en amont de sa cofluence avec la Moselle. Il s'agit du seul château médiéval du Haut-Rhin moyen qui n'ait jamais été détruit. Depuis 2002, il est une des principaux sites des gorges du rhin, inscrites au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
