Français : Autres titres : Maison Gabriel-Marchand;134, rue Saint-Charles, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Description : La résidence située au 134, rue Saint-Charles aurait été bâtie en 1895 pour Gabriel Marchand, protonotaire, député de Saint-Jean et fils de Félix-Gabriel Marchand, journaliste, auteur, notaire et homme politique. En 1920, la propriété est acquise par la compagnie Singer qui y loge ses gérants. L'ornementation élaborée et la complexité de la composition des élévations rattachent ce bâtiment au courant architectural appelé éclectisme victorien. Ce courant apparaît vers 1860 et combine divers apports stylistiques comme le classicisme, le gothique et le Queen Anne. La demeure se compose notamment d'un corps de logis de plan carré à deux étages et demi, d'une toiture à deux versants droits présentant plusieurs grands pignons, d'une galerie, de deux porches et d'une lucarne à fronton arrondi.
