Description
English: Facade of the prayer hall in the courtyard of the Great Mosque of Diyarbakir. The mosque's courtyard facades include a mix of Roman/Byzantine spolia (like the columns with Corinthian capitals) and Islamic carved decoration (like the Arabic inscriptions). The mosque was founded in the 7th century but rebuilt under the Seljuk and Artuqid dynasties in the 11th-12th century (details vary a bit depending on which source you read).
