Description

This is a rare bed from the Tomb of Tomb of Yuya and Thuya, who were the parents of Queen Tiye, the chief wife of king [[:w:Amenhotep III]], one of the most powerful king’s of Egypt’s powerful 18th Dynasty. Queen Tiye was also the mother of Akhenaten. Yuya and Thuya's tomb had been penetrated by tomb robbers but they only had time to steal the easily portable jewellry in the emptied jewel boxes and left behind the furniture and grave mask which were located inside the closed coffins of these individuals before the tomb guards resealed their tomb until the modern era. Their tomb was rediscovered by the Egyptologist James Quibell in an archaeological excavation under the sponsorship of a wealthy American lawyer named Theodore M. Davis in 1905. This object is located in the Egyptian Museum of {w|Cairo]], Egypt.
