Description	English: Aberdeen Student, Scotland, [s.d.] "Aberdeen Student, Laws of Livingstonia" Photograph of a young man dressed in a red graduation gown and mortar board. An image of Kings College, Aberdeen University, can be seen in the background. The Scottish missionary Dr Robert Laws was born and educated in Aberdeen.; This belongs to a series of Church of Scotland Foreign Missions Committee lantern slides relating to Dr Robert Laws (1851-1934) the Scottish Missionary. In 1875, inspired by David Livingstone (1813-1873), Laws travelled to Malawi and was involved in the foundation of the mission station of Livingstonia on the shores of Lake Nyasa. During the succeeding 50 years he also established a network of hundreds of schools. In 1908 Laws was elected moderator of the General Assembly of the United Free Church of Scotland.
