English: A Soap Box Derby Senior Division racer designed, constructed and driven to victory in 1983 by Mike Burdgick in Flint, MI and the World Championship a month later at the All-American in Akron, OH. He also won the NDR National Rally Championship the year prior. The smooth featureless body, an oblate tubular monocoque with diamond cross section, was constructed in fiber glass around a lay-down driver. Illustration by Bill Wrigley
