Summary

Description
English: First monument, erected in 1853, to commemorate the early January 1814 crossing of the Rhine River, decisive step towards the collapse of the napoléonic régime.

That romantic simplified version of History omits to hint at the vastness of the military feat, best summarized by the Chapter Der Rheinübergang der Schlesischen Armee inserted in <► [1].

For the crossing proper <► [2].
