Summary

Description
English: Explore Redmond Caves in Oregon with #mypubliclandsroadtrip!

The Redmond Caves are a group of caves formed by volcanic flows of molten lava from the Newberry Caldera over the past 2 million years. While there are five caves within the city limits of Redmond, in central Oregon, they actually represent a much larger subterranean network that stretches for miles into the city limits of Bend.

Excavation discoveries of bone, arrow points and textile artifacts show that the caves have been used by Native Americans for the past 5,000 or 7,000 years. Today, the Redmond Caves are managed as a unique site where visitors can learn about geology, wildlife and past human use.
