Description
English: Xu Wei's Flower Scroll of Ming Dynasty

Featuring: Peony, hydrangea, orchid, apricot blossom, lotus, chrysanthemum, begonia, daylily, pomegranate, plum blossom, daffodil, bamboo, four seasons.

This scroll has 16 sections, each with a poem and seal by the author. Xu Wei's paintings are characterized by wildness and self-adaptation. This scroll uses ink and light colors to depict peonies, orchids, lotuses, chrysanthemums, daffodils, etc. Next to each flower, he wrote a seven-character quatrain, using the allegorical method of using objects to express his thoughts and feelings, personifying the different characteristics of flowers and expressing the author's thoughts and feelings. The brushwork is smooth and the ink is flowing, and the poetry, calligraphy and painting complement each other. It is a representative work of Xu Wei's flower paintings.
