[edit]- 1 Ballal Dhipi. A 30 ft (9.1 m) high mound spread over a sprawling area of 1,300 ft² (120 m2). The mound is named after King Vallala Sena, of the Sena dynasty, who ruled Bengal in the late 12th century CE. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) excavated the area between 1982–89, which revealed a stupendous brick structure in an extensive yard, covered on all sides by enclosure walls. Stucco heads, terracotta human and animal figurines, copper utensils and other objects, iron nails, etc, were found from the excavation. The upper remains are datable to the 12th century CE and built over the earlier structures of the 8th and 9th centuries CE.
- 2 Chand Kazir Samadhi. A tomb of Chand Kazi, a Muslim devotee of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and an example of communal harmony in early modern times. He was entombed in a 500-year-old tree.
